Surrey-based live-in care company, Arbour Companions & Care, will host a special Access All Ages Christmas Music Celebration at St Paul’s Church in Camberley on Thursday 3 December 2026, bringing together different generations, their clients, carers, families and members of the local community. Delivered in partnership with Intergenerational Music Making (IMM), the event will turn the audience into the choir through shared singing and inclusive music making, while raising vital funds for Marie Curie.
Expect Christmas favourites, communal singing and live music, creating a warm and uplifting atmosphere before guests move into a festive reception with drinks, canapés and time to connect. Surrey harpist, Kate Ham, will thread music throughout the afternoon, greeting guests as they arrive, offering a reflective interlude within the main programme and bringing a gentle glow to the reception.
The event celebrates community and connection – and by bringing people across the generations together, it can help combat issues of loneliness at Christmas.
A 2026 peer-reviewed study in the Journal of Creative Health found that intergenerational musicmaking improves mood, reduces agitation and increases engagement for people living with dementia, showing how shared musical experiences can support emotional wellbeing even as memory declines. NHS England’s 2026 Creative Health Update also highlights that music helps maintain communication and cognitive stimulation for people with dementia, making inclusive musical events especially valuable for older adults.
Christina Sell, Managing Director, Arbour Companions & Care, “”At Christmas, connection matters more than ever. We see every day how loneliness can affect older people, particularly those living with dementia, and how something as simple as sharing music can bring comfort, confidence and joy. Music has a unique ability to cross generations, spark memories and bring people together in a way that few other activities can. That’s why we’re delighted to be partnering with Intergenerational
Music Making for this special event. The Access All Ages Christmas Music Celebration is about much more than festive entertainment. It’s about creating moments of connection, strengthening our community and ensuring people of all ages feel valued, included and part of something special at Christmas. We’re also proud to be raising funds for Marie Curie and supporting the vital work they do for families when they need it most.”
Charlotte Miller, Director of Intergenerational Music Making, says:
“Loneliness remains one of the most significant challenges facing communities across the UK today and intergenerational connection is one of the most powerful and evidence-based responses we have to it. Access All Ages was designed with this in mind. By bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together through music, we create the conditions for genuine connection, the kind that reduces isolation and strengthens the social fabric of our communities. The Access All Ages Christmas Concert is a wonderful example of what becomes possible when organisations share a commitment to community wellbeing. Intergenerational Music Making are proud to be working alongside Arbour Companions & Care to bring generations together and to demonstrate the very real difference that intergenerational practice can make.”
Throughout the afternoon, Arbour Companions & Care will raise funds for Marie Curie, whose work provides expert care and support for people living with terminal illness and their families.
The Christmas Music Celebration will take place at St Paul’s Church, Crawley Ridge, Camberley, GU15 2AD, with doors opening at 1.45pm, a concert from 2.15pm to 3.15pm and a reception from 3.15pm to 4.15pm. Free parking is available on site.
