Does Live-in Care mean I will Have no Privacy

  14th June, 2017

This is a question we are asked a lot at Arbour Care, this clearly highlights the importance it has to many people’s opinion of what live-in care may mean for them or their loved one.

The simple answer to the question ‘Does Live-in care mean I will have no privacy is no, however we will elaborate further.

It is true that adjusting to having someone live in your home whilst they provide care for you can take some time to adapt for both parties, however, it is important to remember that it is still ‘your’ home.

Our carers are respectful of you and your home and will adapt accordingly with professionalism whilst always maintaining a friendly, helpful attitude.

This is helped early on in our process as we carry out an in-depth assessment prior to your carer starting which enables us to understand your daily routine, your likes and dislikes and your care needs and personalities of the people involved.

Once we have this information, Christina will carefully match an appropriate carer to the discussed requirements that she believes will be the best fit for a lasting relationship from the very beginning.

It is also important to remember that the carers like their privacy as well. This means they will not constantly be by your side but will allow you to continue your daily life as normal with the knowledge that someone is there to help with the things that you may not be able to carry out anymore.

All of our carers are specifically trained and understand the requirements of who they will be caring for whilst also fully integrating and adapting to their new surroundings.

This is a big benefit to the person requiring care and their family as it allows peace of mind for all parties, and also the trust and knowledge that their home remains their home and that their privacy will still remain intact as much as possible.

On our website, we have a designated frequently asked questions page that answers a whole host of other questions you may have regarding our live-in care service such as cost, who are the carers? and how do you arrange live-in care?

  • "We used Arbour Care to provide care for our parents while we were on holiday. Our parents were originally reluctant to have someone living in their home but eventually agreed that it was the best option. The care they received was so good, the carer cooked delicious meals (I need some recipe ideas!) she was company for Dad and made it possible for us to enjoy our holiday knowing there was someone available if anything was to happen. We would have no hesitation in recommending Arbour Care to anyone looking for care providers."

  • "Arbour provided live-in carers for my wife for six years from 2017-2023 including the pandemic. My main impression is of a very professional organisation in which owners and staff worked all the time to provide the support the client needed at as high a standard as possible. They gave equal attention to statutory requirements, care plans and staff training and never cut any corners."
