Getting the Right Information on Your Care Options

  31st May, 2017

Accepting that you or a family member requires some level of care can be a difficult period of time for those concerned.

Understanding what you need is half the battle, but finding the right solution can feel like walking through a maze without a map.

With information thrown at us from every angle (and often a lot of it inaccurate) it is hard to know where to turn to in order to find the right information for one of the hardest decisions you may ever have to make.

There are more options than just opting for a Care home, having a live-in carer is fast becoming the preferred choice for people requiring help as it enables the person to retain keep their independence and stay in their own home where they feel comfortable.

One of the key components at Arbour Care is the time we take to assess and understand your situation fully.

Getting to know who you are and your life story whilst you get to know us, is a key element to making sure that, together, we can find the right solution for you or your loved one.

To start with we will have a consultation over the phone where Christina will ask a number of questions to be able form a picture of the care requirements.

The next stage is where we will personally meet with you in your own home as we want you to feel as comfortable with us as possible.

This is when the in-depth assessment will take place and is a key component in agreeing on what to do moving forward and whether the live-in care service we provide is right for you.

This is also an important time for yourself to gain as much information as possible by asking questions such as: –

  • How is quality monitoring carried out?
  • How do you recruit your carers?
  • What happens when a caregiver is on holiday or sick leave?

Christina will be able to answer all of the questions you may have in order to be able to give you the right information for your decision.

If you decide that live-in care is the right way to go for you or your loved one, we will then arrange a further meeting with your carer.

The important thing to remember is we are on hand for a chat at any time to answer any additional questions you may have or provide reassurance for you.

  • "Arbour provided live-in carers for my wife for six years from 2017-2023 including the pandemic. My main impression is of a very professional organisation in which owners and staff worked all the time to provide the support the client needed at as high a standard as possible. They gave equal attention to statutory requirements, care plans and staff training and never cut any corners."

They found an amazing carer to look after my elderly and disabled husband, who is very experienced, kind and thoughtful. She has made an enormous positive difference to the quality of our lives and I will always be grateful to her and cannot thank her enough."
